Defects- Continued.
Paint finish or epoxy powder coating is not free of scratches, blisters, or non-covered areas.
Plated parts are not free of scratches, pits, and peeled or unplated areas.
Table is not clean and free from dirt or other contamination.
Sampling for tests. Sampling for tests, including dimensional test, shall be conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-105, with an AQL of 2.5 (percent defective) and an inspection level of S-1. The unit of product for test purposes shall be one overbed table.
a. First article. Where a first article sample is required all tests shall be performed on that unit.
b. Acceptance testing. When a first article sample has not been required, one unit shall be subjected to the performance test specified herein. If a test article sample has successfully passed all tests, performance test shall not be required at acceptance.
Tests.
Test for side play. The degree of side play shall be measured at the end of the tabletop opposite the pedestal when a 2 pound lateral load is applied to the edge of the table within 3 inches of the described end. Measurements shall be made at both maximum and minimum elevations of the tabletop. A sum of deflections on both sides of the rest position exceeding one inch shall constitute a defect.
Downward deflection and permanent set. The table shall be elevated to the maximum position. A 100-pound load shall be evenly distributed on the area comprising the full width of the top and the 12 inches farthest from the pedestal. The load shall be maintained for five minutes and the amount of deflection measured. The load shall be removed and the amount of deflection measured. The load shall be removed and the amount of set shall be determined. A downward deflection under load greater than 2 inches, or a permanent set to the table, shall constitute a defect.
