Type I and II.
The sum of the lateral deflections (side play) of the table shall not exceed one inch when a two pound lateral load is applied to the edge of the table within 3 inches of the applied to the edge of the table within 3 inches of the described end. The table shall not deflect downward under load more than two inches, or take a permanent set, when a 100 pound load is evenly distributed on the are comprising the full width of the top and the 12 inches farthest from pedestal and maintained for a period of five minutes.
Welding shall be durable, sound in every detail, and in accordance with the latest practices recommended by the American Welding Society. All weld joints shall blend into the adjacent metal in gradual, smooth curves. Beads shall be smooth and free of slag, excessive undercut, or excessive splatter. Sufficient metal shall be added to provide a suitable fillet or reinforcement. All welds shall be continuous with no visible voids, pinholes, or cracks.
The table shall be clean and free from dirt or other contamination.
Workmanship. The overbed table shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit. One table, as specified, constitutes one unit.
Quality Assurance Provisions.
Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contact or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
Records. Records of examinations and tests performed by or for the contractor shall be maintained by the contractor and made available to the Government upon the Government’s request, at any time, or from time to time, during the performance of the contract and for a period of three years after delivery of the supplies to which such records relate.
