The trays shall be formed with a decrease in trough depth from the anterior segment to the posterior segment. The minimum wall thickness of the tray shall be 1/16 inch measured at the center of the anterior buccal wall of the mandibular or maxillary tray. The hinge strap shall be designed and constructed to minimize the contact between the straps and the near sides of the tongue to prevent gapping. The handles shall be a minimum of 1 inch in length and 1/2 inch in width. The design and dimensions of the trays shall be in accordance with figure 1.
The handles shall be clearly labeled to indicate which is the upper or lower tray for correct orientation and shall be coded for size. The trays shall have no sharp or rough edges.
Adequate and accurate instructions for use shall be included with each package of trays to include size code designations.
Workmanship. The trays shall be free of visible contamination, such as dirt, burns, cuts, holes, shaved areas, appearance or impair their serviceability.
Unit. Package (PG). One package containing thirty trays of one size only, as specified, constitutes one unit. The unit package shall be a resealable type package and shall contain instructions for use.
Quality Assurance Provisions.
Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contact or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
Records. Records of examinations and tests performed by or for the contractor shall be maintained by the contractor and made available to the Government upon the Government’s request, at any time, or from time to time, during the performance of the contract and for a period of three years after delivery of the supplies to which such records relate.
