Sampling for inspection. Sampling for inspection shall be conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-105. Where feasible, the same sample shall be used for the determination of two or more inspection characteristics. The unit of product for inspection purposes shall be one package of four tubes, each tube containing a minimum of 7 grams each. Unless otherwise specified, sampling for examination shall be conducted at inspection level II, AQL 2.5, and sampling for tests (when applicable) shall be conducted at inspection level S-1, AQL 1.0.
Tests.
pH. Spatulate 1 gram of sealing compound with sufficient water to induce a rapid set. Crush the set compound into fine particles and stir vigorously into 10 milliliters of distilled water. Allow particles to settle and determine pH of clear supernatant liquid within 24 hours.
Linear setting expansion. Twelve cylindrical specimens of the sealing compound measuring 6 mm x 12 mm are placed in open plastic tubes and immersed in a distilled water bath for ten days at 37° ± 1° Centrigrade. On day eleven, measure length and determine the percent of linear expansion. The largest and smallest length measurement shall b dropped. The average of the remaining 10 shall be used to calculate the linear setting expansion. The length measurement shall be taken to the nearest 0.5 mm.
Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and conforms to the producers’ own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Regulatory requirements.
Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. If the product covered by this document has been determined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to be under its jurisdiction, the offeror/contractor shall comply, and be responsible for compliance by its subcontractors/suppliers, with the requirements of Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, as amended, and regulations promulgated thereunder. In addition, the offeror/contractor shall comply, and be responsible for compliance by its subcontractors/suppliers, with the requirements of all other applicable Federal, State, and local statutes, ordinances, and regulations.
