HOLDER, TOOTH DIE PIN (Spring Type)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers a tooth die pin holder suitable for use in aligning a die pin in the construction of a removable master die and model.
Salient characteristics:
Shall be a metal dowel pin holding device for use with NSN 6520-00-930-8046, Tooth Die Pin. Shall be capable of gripping and aligning an individual dowel pin for the purpose of the construction of a removable master die and model.
The dowel pin shall be quickly and easily insertable and removable from the holding device. The holding device shall be quickly and easily insertable and removable from the impression. The holding device shall securely grip and retain the dowel pin by spring action and shall penetrate and be securely retained in the impression material by means of a sharpened pin.
The holder shall be durable and reusable and shall be fabricated in one piece from corrosion-resistant wire. The device beginning at the sharpened end shall be followed, in sequence, by a leg, an offset, a coil spring, and a thumb lever (tighten and release of coil spring around dowel pin).
Dimensions of the dowel pin holding device shall be as follows:
The overall height shall be 1-1/8 ± 1/32 inch; length of point shall be 1/8 ± 1/64 inch; overall length of offset shall be 9/16 ± 1/32 inch; overall length of thumb lever shall be 17/32 ± 1/32 inch; and the inside diameter of the coil spring shall be 0.063 ± .003 inches. The coil spring shall have 3 coils.
Each unit of issue shall be provided with an illustration clearly depicting the technique of usage.
Material. Shall be type 302 stainless steel wire, .030 inches in diameter (commercial tolerances). The wire shall have a smooth finish. The tensile strength shall be 295,000 ± 10,000 psi.
