COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
WEDGE SET, DENTAL (Wood)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Military Specification MIL-W-36421B.
This commercial item description covers a wedge set suitable for use in dental operative procedures.
Salient characteristics:
Wedges shall be suitable for use in exerting a lateral pressure and enforcing a separation of teeth between the proximal surfaces of adjoining teeth. Wedges shall be fabricated of high quality, seasoned or kiln dried white birchwood. The wedge shall be of triangular cross section and shall be longitudinally tapered to a point or slightly blunted. All surfaces of the wedges shall be clean, smoothly finished, and free from splinters. Wedges shall be furnished in the shapes or sizes, and quantities listed in Table I. wedges shall also conform to Figure 1.

1/ The remaining 15 wedges may be supplied in any one size or assortment of sizes.
Material. Material shall be of the highest quality throughout, and suitable in all respects for the purpose intended. Wedges shall be furnished clean and ready for use.
Workmanship. Wedge set shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit. Box (BX). One box containing 500 wedges, as specified, constitutes one unit.
