The container shall be permanently labeled to read, *Sodium Fluoride Mouthrinse (0.2%). CAUTION: Do not swallow.” Complete printed instructions shall be affixed to the container and the label shall be a waterproof plastic. The printing shall be waterproof and shall not run or wash out. Label and printing shall not be damaged by continuous washing.
Class 2,Pump. The pump shall screw onto the container and be manually operated. The pump with one full stroke shall be capable of ejecting 10 ml ± 1 ml of 0.2% NaF solution. The pump shall consist of a delivery tube with corrosion resistant steel fitments, a standard 38 mm screw cap, auxiliary cap and culminating in a molded plastic, except for fitments. The fitments (the spring and two balls) shall be fabricated of 18-8 corrosion resistant steel. The fitments shall show no sign of corrosion when tested in accordance with the boil test as specified herein. The pickup end of the delivery tube shall be diagonally cut to assist uptake. The uptake tip shall extend to within 3/4 inch of the bottom of the container to minimize waste. The standard 38 mm screw cap shall be a ring through which the delivery tube passes. The standard 38 mm screw cap together with the auxiliary screw cap shall securely attach the pump to the container without leakage. The opening of the spout shall extend outward nominally 3-1/4 inches from the center axis of the pump with the ejection tip angled downward to facilitate cup filling. All parts of the pump shall be inert to NaF solutions. There shall be no leakage in the entire system.
Workmanship. The container and pump shall be clean and free of corrosion, pitting, warping, deformation, cuts, holes, binding of moving parts or any defects which detract from its appearance or impair their serviceability.
Unit. Each (EA). One container (class 1) or one pump (class 2), as specified, constitutes one unit.
Quality Assurance Provisions.
Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contact or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
