STOOL, STRAIGHT
Corrosion Resisting Steel
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description as a replacement for Federal Specification AA-S-698 which is cancelled.
This Commercial Item Description covers a corrosion-resisting steel, straight, footstool suitable for use in surgical operating rooms.
Salient characteristics:
The stool shall be a straight nonadjustable footstool of unplated corrosion-resisting steel suitable for use in surgical operating rooms. The stool shall consist of a rectangular top stably and securely mounted upon and supported by four tubular flared legs. The top shall be designed to facilitate sure footing by means of metal embossing or a suitable electrically conductive vinyl or rubber coated top. Its overall dimensions shall be approximately 12 by 18 inches. If the top is covered by conductive vinyl or rubber, the top shall have a corrosion-resisting steel edging (picture frame) for protection.
The stool shall have each leg terminate in a snugly fitting, electrically conductive rubber tip. If the tubular legs are not plugged or capped, a metal slug equal to the outer diameter of the tubular leg shall be inserted inside the rubber tip, so that the tubular leg rests upon it, and thus prevents the tip from being cored out by the edge of the tubing. The stool shall be approximately 8 inches high when measured from the top to the floor.
