VIBRATOR, DENTAL MOLDING

The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This commercial item description covers a dental molding vibrator suitable for vibrating dental stones, plasters and investments into impression trays and small size casting rings.
Salient characteristics:
General. The vibrator shall consist essentially of a top vibrating plate, activated by an electro-mechanical vibrating system contained in the base assembly, mounted on four rubber feet. When the coil is energized, the armature and table top shall be pulled down sharply. When the coil is de-energized, the springs, armature, and table top shall be returned for the next cycle.
Material. The deck shall be fabricated of cast aluminum covered with a smooth rubber snap-on protective cover. The springs shall be fabricated of a suitable carbon steel.
Power. The vibrator shall operate on 115 volts, 60 hertz, single phase, with a power consumption of 35 to 45 watts.
Design and dimensions. The vibrator shall weigh 3 ± 1/2 lbs. and shall be in accordance with Defense Personnel Support Center (DPSC) Drawing No. 24571 for design and dimensions.
Vibrations. The vibrator shall vibrate at a constant rate of 3600 vibrations per minute when set at the high position.
Electrical and control components. The control components shall consist of a line cord, a 4 position control switch with off, low, medium and high positions, and an electrical coil assembly to drive the vibrating intensity required. All electrical components shall be properly protected against moisture. The power cable shall be a minimum of 5-1/2 feet long and equipped with 125 volts, 15 ampere, 2-pole, 3-wire grounding plug in accordance with American National Standards Institute (ANSI) C73.11.
