COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
SYRINGE KIT, DENTAL IMPRESSION AND IRRIGATING
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description as a replacement for Military Specification MIL-S-42009 which is cancelled.
This commercial item description covers a disposable syringe kit suitable for use with elastomeric impression materials and irrigation solutions.
Salient characteristics:
Material. The syringe and tip shall be fabricated from inert polypropylene which meets the USP requirements for Class II plastics. The plunger tip shall be fabricated from inert natural rubber or neoprene. The finger grip extenders shall be fabricated of rigid plastic. The plastic sheets shall be fabricated from clear polystyrene.
Style, design and dimensions. The syringe kit shall consist of 50 disposable syringes, 50 sheets and 2 finger grip extenders. The plunger tip shall be lubricated with pharmaceutical grade silicone lubricant.
The plunger tip shall form a seal between the barrel and plunger such that there shall be no leakage past the plunger in either direction. The plunger tip shall be of a color which clearly contrasts with the syringe barrel for maximum visibility. The plunger shall operate smoothly in the syringe without binding or hanging up.
The reusable finger grip extenders shall be provided for use in delivering viscous materials from the syringe. The finger grip extender shall fit on the syringe and shall be readily removable.
The style, design and dimensions of the syringe and finger grip extender shall be in accordance with (DPSC) Defense Personnel Support Center Drawing No. 24501.
Plastic sheets. Fifty plastic sheets shall be provided for use in loading the syringe. Each sheet shall be 0.005 ± 0.0015 inch thick and shall measure 3 1/8 ± 1/8 inches by 2 ± 3/16 inches.
