COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
PAPER, ARTICULATING, DENTAL (25 Foot Roll)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description in preference to Federal Specification GG-P-00106B.
This commercial item description covers articulating paper suitable for dental use.
Salient characteristics:
Articulating paper shall be suitable for use by the dentists to ascertain degree of occlusal contact between opposing teeth. It shall have a soft cushion, rough surface and shall be supersensitive. Paper shall give a clear mark on porcelain, plastic, natural teeth and metals, wet or dry, with the slightest pressure.
Material. Articulating paper shall be of suitable paper coated with a vegetable or paraffin wax substance mixed with Prussian blue (Iron blue) dye. Dying shall be uniform throughout. Prussian blue (Iron blue) dye shall conform to the requirements of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act.
Irritation. Prior to delivery, the manufacturer shall furnish a statement directly to the contracting officer stating that the articulating paper does not normally irritate oral tissues and does not contain poisonous ingredients in sufficient concentration to be harmful to human beings when used as directed.
Dimensions. The articulating paper shall have the following dimensions:
Thickness:
Coating (each side) 0.0002 to 0.00025 inch
Paper with coating 0.0027 to 0.0033 inch
Width- 5/8 inch +0,- 3/64 inch
Length- 25 ft (minimum)
Style and design. Articulating paper shall be furnished in rolls. Each roll shall be completely interleaved with tissue paper. The maximum outside diameter of the roll shall be 1.56 inches.
