COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BRUSH, DENTURE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Interim Federal Specification, H-B-0018a (DSA-DM), type I.
This commercial item description covers a brush suitable for use in the dental laboratory for scrub cleaning dental prosthesis during fabrication.
Salient characteristics:
The brush shall consist of a one piece methacrylate block and 61 tufts of 0.012 ± 0.001 inch diameter black nylon. The distal end of the block shall have 61 evenly spaced holes arranged in three rows. Rows shall be staggered; middle row shall contain 21 holes, and outside rows shall contain 20 holes. One tuft shall be placed in each hole and the tuft shall be fastened to the block by a metal staple. Metal shall be corrosion resisting or shall be made corrosion resisting by plating. Top of tufts shall be neatly and evenly trimmed to form a bristle area with a straight top. The proximal end of block shall serve as a handle. The handle shall have a hole for hanging purposes. The block shall be smoothly finished. Style and design of brush shall be as shown in Figure 1.
Workmanship. The brush shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit. Each (EA). One brush packaged in a box or sealed plastic bag, as specified, constitutes one unit.
Quality Assurance Provisions.
Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contact or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
Records. Records of examinations and tests performed by or for the contractor shall be maintained by the contractor and made available to the Government upon the Government’s request, at any time, or from time to time, during the performance of the contract and for a period of three years after delivery of the supplies to which such records relate.
