COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
POINTS, ENDODONTIC, PAPER, STERILE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description as a replacement for Interim Federal Specification GG-P-00581D, which is cancelled.
This Commercial Item Description covers sterile, absorbent, paper points suitable for use during endodontic procedures. Points shall be one of six sizes, and packaged in quantities of 200, package size 1, or 2400, package size 2 (see notes).
Salient characteristics:
Material. The points shall be fabricated of a fine grade of white bibulous paper which has smooth, lintless surface and a close texture. The paper shall not contain supplemental chemicals or starches. When tested in accordance with the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) D646, the paper shall have a basis weight as follows:

The ream size shall be 480 to 500 sheets, with each sheet 24 inches by 36 inches, for all weights.
Style, design, and dimensions. The points shall be of a design, which facilities rapid, extensive absorption of blood, exudates, and medicaments. The points shall be uniformly tapered and machine rolled tightly. Point dimensions shall be as follows:
