The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Interim Commercial Item Description as a replacement for Federal Specification GG-P-001278a which is cancelled.
This commercial item description covers double-ended dental instruments suitable for manipulating and contouring plastic-filling materials.

Materials. Material shall be fabricated from corrosion-resistant steel in accordance with ASTM Designation F899 for composition only.

As an alternate, handle shall be chromium or nickel plated brass. Brass shall conform to copper alloy No. 260 or 330 as specified in ASTM Designation B135 for composition only.
Design and dimensions. The design and dimensions of the instrument shall conform to the drawing listed below for the applicable instrument, and for the respective design and instrument number.
