COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
ARTICULATOR, DENTAL (Plain Line, Lingual Access Design)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This commercial item description covers a plain line, lingual access design, dental articulator for use within the dental prosthetic laboratory.
Salient characteristics:
The articulator shall be suitable, for occluding maxillary and mandibular anatomical casts, made from mouth impressions, so that accurate prosthesis may be fabricated. The articulator shall have as part of the device, condylar and auditory pins for use with face bows, (see “Note” section), allowing full lingual visibility and accessibility to mounted casts. The articulator shall consist of a lower member and an upper member. The lower member shall be provided with right and left brass condylar elements. The lower member shall have two (2) small holes in the anterior portion for the purpose of accepting the mounting guide component, (see “NOTE” section). The upper member shall be provided with a tempered spring steel mechanism for holding the upper member upon the condylar element, permitting a protrusive movement of 30 ± 1 degrees, permitting right and left lateral excursions of 15 ± 1 degrees, permitting a Bennett movement of 15 ± 1 degrees and permitting removal of the upper member which is facilitated by quick release dogs. The articulator shall have an adjustable incisal pin with a lock thumbscrew which will provide a positive anterior stop. The articulator shall have a permanently fixed incisal guide, on the lower member, which shall provide 10 ± 1 degrees protrusive incisal guidance. The articulator shall not require the use of a cast mounting ring, but shall have depressions into which stone shall be poured. After the stone has set, the casts shall be removed by pulling the tapered pins. The design and dimensions of the articulator shall be in accordance with Defense Personnel Support Center (DPSC) drawing number 24516.
