GUIDE, SHADE, DENTAL
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This commercial item description covers a shade selection guide for use in color selection of prosthetic teeth.
Salient characteristics:
The shade guide shall be suitable for use in the selection of the most appropriate shade for both porcelain and plastic teeth, and shade selection in the preparation of fixed restorations and removable prostheses, including ceramic and plastic prostheses.
The shade guide shall consist of 24 individual correlated selector sets of plastic teeth in shades B51, B52, B53, B54, B55, B56, B59, B62, B63, B65, B66, B67, B69, B77, B81, B83, B84, B85, B92, B94, B95, and B96.
The 24 teeth shall be in 4 shade groups: the reddish brown range, the yellow range, the gray range, and the reddish gray range.
The teeth shall have a bright polished finish.
The teeth shall be furnished in a suitable plastic holder. Each tooth shall be securely mounted on a metal or plastic tab. The holder shall be 8 to 9 inches long, 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 inches wide, and 1/4 to 3/8 inch deep. The tooth and tab shall be 2 to 2-1/4 inches long. each tab shall be individually removable from the holder.
