CLOTH, SQUEEZE, DENTAL
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Interim federal Specification DDC-C-00475B (DSA-DM).
This commercial item description covers a dental squeeze cloth suitable for expressing mercury from amalgam filling material and hold the amalgam during the filling procedure.
Salient characteristics:
The squeeze cloth shall be made of a bleached cotton broadcloth or bleached cotton percale or a cotton/polyester fabric of high commercial quality and shall be suitable in all respects for the intended purpose. The squeeze cloth shall be furnished in a square shape measuring 2-13/16 ± 1/16 inch square, and shall conform to the physical properties listed in table I. Threads shall run diagonally and the cloth shall be die-cut on 45 ± 15 degree angle. Cloth shall be suitable for expressing mercury from amalgam and holding the amalgam without leaving shreds of foreign matter in the filling mass. The cotton broadcloth, cotton percale or cotton/polyester shall be bleached and desized. The edges of the squeeze cloth (end time) shall be clean-cut to prevent raveling. The starch and protein content including chloroform-soluble material shall not exceed 2.0 percent when tested as specified in test section under nonfibrous material.
