COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BAND, COPPER, DENTAL
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Interim Federal Specification, RR-B-0096C (DSA-DM).
This commercial item description covers copper bands, suitable for use as a matrix in dental prosthetic procedures.
Salient characteristics:
Band shall be made of seamless, unannealed, electrolytic copper having a purity of at least 99.90 percent, with any silver counted as copper. Band shall be suitable for use as a matrix to confine dental impression materials in dental restorative procedures. Band shall measure 1/2 inch in height with a plus tolerance of 1/32 inch and a minus tolerance of 1/64 inch. Wall thickness shall be 0,0050 ± 0.0015 inch. Inside diameter shall be as indicated in Table I for the appliance size with a tolerance of ± 0.005 inch.

Band shall have a hardness of R(15T] 85 to 90 on the Rockwell superficial hardness scale. Band shall have a bright finish with no discoloration, smooth surfaces and clean cut edges free of burrs.
